Magha Puja Day

See Pictures

Magha Puja is one of Buddhism’s most cherished celebrations. Over 2,600 years ago, on a full moon night, 1,250 enlightened disciples gathered spontaneously to hear the Buddha share the essence of his teachings: do good, avoid harm, and purify the mind.

Each year on this sacred night at the Dhammakaya Temple, thousands of lay people and monastics, both men and women, from Thailand and many countries abroad will gather together in solidarity clearly displaying the strength of the Sangha and the reality that the Buddha’s teachings are very much alive today in the hearts of those who continue to walk the path that he illuminated for us.

The special evening consists of group meditation, a ceremonial lighting of the tens of thousands of candles throughout the event space, spreading loving kindness to the world, and  a circumambulation (circular walking meditation) around the cetiya.

Whether you are Buddhist or simply curious, it’s a rare chance to experience a moment of deep stillness, beauty, and human connection.

Join us on 3 March 2026 to be part of this living tradition, and let your light shine for peace.

Visakha Puja Day

Visakha Puja (also often refered to as Vesak Day) is the most significant Buddhist holy day of the year as it commemorates the full moon day when the Buddha was born, attained enlightenment, and entered parinibbāna — all occurring across his life on the same day of the lunar calendar. This celebration helps us reflect with gratitude on the great compassion and sacrifice exemplified by the Buddha’s life and legacy which have allowed us all to purify the mind, attain deep inner happiness, and overcome our suffering over 2,600 years later.

At Dhammakaya Temple, this night is observed as a vibrant festival of light and faith. The evening begins with group meditation and the spreading of loving-kindness to all beings, followed by the ceremonial lighting of tens of thousands of LED candles, followed by a circumambulation of the cetiya. Unlike any other night, these candles form vast, multicolored images that depict the great milestones of the Buddha’s life — a radiant display of beauty visible from the sky.

Join us on 31 May 2026 to experience the magic of Visakha Puja at the Dhammakaya temple.
